Mild Spoilers from stuff already shown in the trailers:

There were some parts of the China episode that were interesting though, the driving along their new roads, but the new EP9 something electric supercar review was nothing special.

Episode 7 with the 3 European classic cars being driven through Scotland with the usual breakdowns, pranks, challenges was a lot of fun. Proper roadtrip.

Also liked the segment comparing the M5 and the Alpina B5. I now like the Alpina B5 more as a result.

Sample of the scenery they drive through below. Scotland looks spectacular (When it’s not covered in rain and fog I guess). I’ve only been to Edinburgh. Need to make a trip just to rent a car and drive up North.

Watched it last night. The conclusion was the Scotland episode was basically a pretty good episode of Top Gear, which is a compliment. Probably the best episode of The Grand Tour yet in terms of quality and not feeling faked.

I liked this one, I think my favorite of this go round. I didn’t approve of curshing the X1/9's roof (I’m always a bit bothered by them pointlessly destroying cars, especially when done for non-”car thing” reasons), and I thought the birthday scene went on too long, but otherwise it was good fun.

My ranking of this season:

Scotland

Detroit

Urus/Alpine/Jim Clark

China

Colombia pt 2

Pickups

Colombia pt 1

Believe me, nothing of value was lost. As they mentioned at the end, the X1/9 packed it in pretty much the day after they finished filming. Having seen a properly restored X1/9? That one was in beyond terrible condition.

Cars can still be fun in terrible condition. And while I can believe it blew up, I also can believe that knowing ti was going to be a write/off regardless, it may have been abused a bit, especially once filming finished.

I’m not even to season 3 yet, but for me it’s kind of like the third season of Star Trek.  It may not have been as good as earlier episodes, but I’m just glad it’s still around.

There are a ton of Alpina B7s in my area for the sole reason that if you’re spending that much you might as well go all the way. M5s still are the majority though.

I don’t know, this show really feels “phoned in” now. There is just something missing from it, but can quite put my finger on it.

I find the more recent Top Gear with Chris Harris, Reid and Joey actually more entertaining .

And this is coming from someone who was yelling for the overthrow of BBC when Clarkson got fired and May/Hammond joined him.

In fact, I find most of May’s other shows about (Toys, Re-assemblers , Man Lab, Cars of the People, Oz & James Drink series, Etc.) far more entertaining than this overly scripted show.

Annoyingly this is par for the course for TGT. The season will start weak, have a controversial episode, have a great mini documentary, then finish fairly strong.

The guy I bought my Daytona from way back was big into Fiat X1/9's. That X1/9 was dead WHEN THEY BOUGHT IT. Period. No amount of abuse would have changed that. The fact that it made it through the trip at all is a miracle. It wasn’t idling anywhere near correctly, the roof was clearly not original (original would be black ,) the paint was most certainly hiding rocker and quarter rust, it was just a total basket case.

That X1/9 belonged on roadkill, lol
